Biostimulators
Biostimulators such as Sculptra® and Radiesse® can address a wide range of skin problems, including; aging, lines and wrinkles in the skin, and volume loss. They are also called collagen biostimulators or fillers. Biostmulators trigger collagen production in the cells and work long after injection to promote skin firmness and restore volume. Radiesse® and Sculptra® are both minimally invasive and do not require downtime, and they can often be used to treat the same facial areas. However, they both have distinct differences. There is one main difference between Sculptra® and Radiesse®. Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material that the body can absorb over time. Radiesse®, on the other hand, contains calcium microspheres called calcium hydroxylapatite, a compound structurally similar to calcium, the same compound found in bones and teeth.
Sculptra® is excellent for adding volume and definition to hollow temples and cheeks, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and scars, and diminishing marionette lines along the jawline. Radiesse® can smooth away wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose and restore fullness to other facial areas.

Biostimulators FAQs
What Are Biostimulators?
Biostimulators are compounds injected deep into the skin’s dermis to stimulate new tissue growth, helping the skin to produce its volume naturally.
How Do Biostimulators Work?
Instead of replacing lost volume with hyaluronic acid, biostimulators stimulate the body’s natural collagen production to make your cells work to heal themselves.
When will I see the results?
The body takes time to produce collagen, so biostimulators do not have immediate results. As with any fillers, Sculptra® takes a few weeks or months to achieve the desired results. Radiesse® is highly viscous and provides an immediate effect of volumizing while also promoting collagen production over time.
Which Skin Treatment Is The Right Treatment For Me?
Which skincare treatment is best depends on your desired results or goals, what color skin you have, what problems you need to be addressed, etc. You will be given a treatment recommendation by the doctor when you are seen for your first appointment after the doctor examines your skin and determines the best treatment for you.
How long do results last?
Results can last two to three years.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies. On average, we recommend at least three treatments, but every patient is different. We will examine your skin and your beauty goals when you come in for your first appointment and advise you on the best course of action would be.
